'Bommarillu' fame Bhaskar who is branded as a director with class touch tried an out and out mass entertainer with Ram titled Ongole Githa. Let's see how it is..

What is it about?

White aka Dorababu (Ram) comes to Ongole Mirchi yard as a kid and grows up into one of the key members of the market. The market's Chairman (Prakash Raj) is a very good person, but White eyes his position. Everyone votes in favor of White, but he gives up on Chairman post and says he wants to marry Chairman's daughter instead. Marriage is fixed and here comes a twist in the tale. There is a background story between the Chairman and White's father.

Performances:                                                                                                                                 

Ram is as energetic as ever. He did well in the confrontation scenes with Prakash Raj and also is very naughty in the encounters with Krithi. His dances are a treat to his fans. Krithi is cute as the female lead. She did a nice job too. Prakash Raj has once again showed how good an actor he is. His towering performance is one of the major attractions of this movie. Prabhu is routine. Ahuti Prasad is alright. Kishore Das is okay. Abhimanyu Singh is wasted. Raghu Babu is loud. Ali's comedy is aimed at frontbenchers.

On the Technical Front:

Dialogues are average. Music composed by Prakash Kumar is mediocre. Cinematography is good. Most of the scenes have hundreds of junior artistes in the frame and covering Mirchi in the background. Art department and camera department gelled well. Editing is fine. Production values are commendable.

Bhaskar tried to do something that is not his cup of tea. He couldn't make at least one scene which is worthy enough to praise director. This is certainly not his comfort zone and he should stay away from making this type of movies. There are many specialist directors who could make commercial mass entertainers at ease. Bhaskar should better work on films like Bommarillu and Parugu.

Analysis:        

The storyline is pretty simple. Son taking revenge for the sake of winning his father's lost respect is an old plot which is beaten to the death. Villain acting as good man in public and showing his true colors in the background is also not new. We have seen such characters in the past.

Bhaskar might have felt the characterization of Prakash Raj very exciting, but that is just okay. He failed to build a proper script around that character. Most of the scenes are forced into the movie. There is no free flow of scenes especially post interval.

There are some good moments in the first hour, but Ongole Githa loses steam very quickly and drags on and on till the climax. Ending is also very poorly written and executed. Bhaskar tried his hand at mass comedy and that didn't work much. On a whole Ongole Githa is a very poor attempt from Bhaskar and it might find hard to stay afloat at the box office. The buzz around this film is also very weak and with this report it would be a tough journey ahead.
